Harper in China
So, after Obama’s heralded (at least here it was) visit to China last month, Canada’s Stephen Harper decides to jump on the bandwagon and make the trip, marking the first time in 5 years a Canadian PM has made a visit here. He was in Beijing yesterday and arrives in Shanghai today.
Call me crazy, but during the last few years of recession, wouldn’t visiting the world’s fastest growing power a bit earlier and trying to improve relations be a good step in stimulating business and trade between the two countries to help with the Canadian economy? Sounds a bit more logical than political posturing and taking a ‘hard line’ with China.
Canada, can we please throw this bum out already?
